Pattern 1853 Three Band Enfield Rifled Musket, with Tower 1854 marking

The Three Band Enfield Rifle-Musket (also called Pattern 1853 Enfield or P53 Enfield) was used by the English from 1853 to 1867 and also enjoyed great popularity with the Confederates during the American Civil War. It was the first weapon manufactured in Enfield after the fire in the Tower of London had compelled the Royal Small Arms Factory to relocate their production sites to this district in the far North of London.
Despite its denomination, the Enfield P53 is not a smoothbore musket but a rifle featuring a barrel with three grooves. In volley fire, ranges up to 1000 m could be reached with high accuracy. It was used by all the European armies to attune their infantry to rifled weapons. This rifle was also very popular with the American generals during the Civil War. With .58 cal., it could be used with both British and American ammunition.
The three band Enfield saw its first military deployment in the Crimean War from 1853 to 1856. It proved to be so reliable and accurate that the sight was even enlarged from 900 to 1000 yards in the second production run.

This beautiful replica features the embossment Tower 1854 on the lock and is very close to its master: oil-finished walnut stock, three original-style barrel bands and blued barrel. It is accented with brass butt plate, trigger guard and nose cap which are true to original. The V-style main spring in the percussion lock and the traditional military sights complement this fine weapon.

Our muzzle-loader replicas are intended for decoration and re-enactment only. The muzzle has not been drilled, so the weapon is not functional. However, an expert gunsmith is able to drill the muzzle and make it to a functional gun. You should check with your authorities if this is legal in your country.

A beautiful item for every collection and an indispensable accessory for re-enactors.
